Jet2 have begun cancelling flights to Spain set for early September – despite the company planning to resume ALL flights from August 30th.

The airline provided an update this week to say they were reviewing their flight programme ‘in line with FCO travel advice’.

“Some additional changes may occur,” the tweet said.

“Where this is the case we will contact customers directly to discuss options.”

Messages of cancellations after that date have started appearing on our Facebook pages, claiming flights for 31st August and the 3rd and 4th of September have been pulled.

The company has not issued a statement reviewing their summer flight schedule. They are currently promoting flights to Madeira and the Algarve, in Portugal, after the UK government removed obligatory quarantine for returning travellers.

A Jet2 spokesman said earlier this week:

“Due to the government travel advice to all areas of Spain, we have taken the decision to suspend flights and holidays to Mainland Spain (Alicante and Malaga), the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote) and the Balearic Islands (Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza) up to and including 29th August.

“For bookings due to travel to Mainland Spain, the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands from 30th August onwards, we will provide an additional update once we receive further confirmation from the government.

“Nobody wants customers to be on holiday enjoying themselves more than we do, and we once again urge the government to implement a targeted approach to travel advice, instead of the current blanket ban approach.

“We would like to thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding.”
