The president of the Valencian Community, Ximo Puig, has today announced plans to discount 70% of holidays enjoyed in the region – up to a maximum of €600 – this winter.

The scheme will be open to anyone registered on a municipal padrón in the Valencian Community, which comprises the provinces of Castellón, Valencia and Alicante (Benidorm).

The announcement was made today in the parliament of the Valencian region, Les Corts, as part of a package to recuperate tourism.

“Such a fundamental sector for our economy and our jobs needs a shock plan to reactivate it,” Puig said today.

He said the strategic plan of the Generalitat – the Valencian government – was the rapid restoration of jobs and tourist destinations.

To this end, the ‘Bono Viatge CV‘ scheme aims to repay 70% of holiday expenses for those who are empadronados. Both touristic accommodation and services purchased via travel agencies will be eligible for the bonus.

So far, the only requirements named in today’s announcements are for both the accommodation and estate agencies to have signed up to the programme.

The scheme will be rolled out in mid-October, according to local daily Las Provincias, and form part of the €196 million recuperation plan.
